Today is the first day of Christmas so you all know what that means! we get to open a gift from all those parcels we have had sitting waiting tempting us, so before brekie I opened my first one from Laurie here is a pic of my first gift. Thank you soo much Laurie.
These are some pics of Sufi's craftshop and Tearooms at Triabunna, We visited the shop spent a bomb between us nearly $1000 it is a shop you just have to buy from, its an all year round Christmas shop Debbie(non blogger) Rosie and I stoped there had afternoon tea, bought some fabric, panels and needles the rest was spent on Christmas things the prices were very reasonable which is why we bought so much :-) we also stopped at the craft shop in St Helens sorry no pics from there.
I'm back from Hobart now after my friends death, it was a hard two weeks (even much harder for Rosie) it was her cousin and she had the responsability of clearing out the house for resale most of which I could not help her with some of it because it was not my place to interfer and some other bits were too heavy for my back, but at least I was there to support Rosie and could help with her cousin's dissabled daughter.
Now to happier things I have posted away my parcel for my swap partner Laurie in NZ and I received a parcel from her this afternoon now the hard bit not delving into it for sooooo long
I think we may have had a bit of a storm on Saturday night and all day Sunday it blew and then blew some more , I was without power for just over 36 hrs which for us means no water either, poor hubby had to get buckets of water out of the cow trough just to flush the loo :) Then I had to drive down to Rosie's house to get some water for drinking and have a shower LOL fortunatley the power came on again tonight I was going through withdrawals from blogland after two full days of it all. The pics with the muddy Rd is where I live I took them from the saftey of the car though I was not getting back out in it again LOL
On Wednesday Rosie Debby and I went on a trip to Exeter to visit Pauline at Calico Crossroads. We took our lunch which we had out in the workroom with Pauline then out came my camera to take a few pics to show all of you sorry I did not take pics of what we bought.
Since I have no finishes to show you I thought I'd show you all my baby, her name is Bekki Lee she was re birthed in 2005-2006 I don't know where I put the "birth certificate" :o) to checkout her proper date etc., The work that goes into this re birthing process is amazing each hair being done individually with real hair and all the little baby markings. She is feeling a bit strange just now as Rose and I swapped baby beds so this is her first night in this bed. I dont think she thinks much of me as a mummy I gave her brother to Rose now I have changed her bed poor wee mite must be wondering whats next.
This is a pic of a quilt I finished today for my friends little foster boy so it's one down three more to go there are four foster children in this lovely wee family so cant do one without the others :-)
Today was the first really nice day we have had for so long that after a little stitching in the morning Rosie and I headed away to Calico Crossroads we didn't leave the shop till 6.15pm poor Pauline closes at 4pm however she was going to be staying back to cut out some kits for my favorite quilt don't suppose I need to say it was "Family Values" so we were not really too naughty staying late. It was great to catch up with Pauline and the wonderful fragrance in her shop is SO nice I had to bring that home to, the vast mix of lovelies she has are a joy to behold I love a visit there. We got home at 9.10 pm :) sorry I have no pics to show forgot to take any. Hope all the teachers and mothers out there are enjoying your holidays
Hi Girls, hope all of you who managed to get to one of the mystery quit days had a fun day! there is a free B O M at Dorothy Baker Designs not sure of the starting date ( sorry I still cant get those buttons up ) Allie has one on her blog so all of you who did" Port Holes " or Wonky Houses can pick up the button there.
I hope Rose the designer of "Threadbare Creations" approves of what I have done with two of her patterns "Family Values & Tender Moments" I need to make what was the Family Values quilt quite a lot bigger king size en fact so am using the Tender Moments blocks to achieve this, I like my quilts big so that they hang over the sides almost to the floor, Family Values sits really well on top of a queen sized bed so the rest I am doing are really for the overhang so I'll put them on the quilt on their sides so it looks right and you can see the pics and words.
Looks like I spoke too soon when I told Laurie my cyclamen were doing really well after being in flower for around six months the last one is looking a bit sick today it's gone all droopy so I hope this is not the beginning of the end for it.
As most of you know I'm doing Family Values by Threadbare Creations I just love Roses patterns well I finished Family values however in the mean time we bought the new Number control bed so now I need kingsize quilt so after lots of thinking about how I could add borders ect to make it bigger I came up with the idea of doing more blocks but then it was what kind of blocks from where?? I ended up putting it aside and was going to start a lovely stitchery I received from Christine which I have been itching to start then what do I see in with my patterns " Tender Moments" by Threadbare Creations so I got to thinking I wonder if I can put the two together so with a few changes (hope thats OK Rose) this is what I came up with. I had to change the border and the colour, what do you girls think will it work???
Hi Girls, I'm trying to do a quilt from an old copy of "Pathway to Paradise "by Jacky Hens, my problem is that I don't have the instruction page, I made the blocks before I noticed it was missing, I also don't have a colour copy of the finished quilt to copy from, it was published in Australian Country Craft a few years ago. Any help would be great.
Hi Girls, Jenny from elefantaz is doing another give away, also you must look in her etzy shop she has more lovely patterns in there as well, I really love her free BOM "Shabby Roses" it's just lovely yet soo not me but how I'd like to be all prettiness around me not my usual Plain Jane type of person look out girls I may just change do you think that's possible? I'll still be my silly good fun self though making faces trying on aprons at gatherings :-)
